Gisele claims that modeling isn’t really “glamorous” and that she has confronted many low points in her career. The 27 year old Midas Queen was recently crowned the world’s most successful supermodel with annual earnings more than $33 million. But Gisele reveals that she has never been guided by fame and had not started her career in modeling to gain popularity.

She says "It's flattering people might think I am number one but I never set out to be famous. "A model's life is not as glamorous as everybody thinks it is. It is a great business and we make a lot of money but it's not glamorous. "You get up at 4am and you shoot in horrible conditions sometimes. There are highs and lows."

Bundchen flakes the Pope for prohibiting Condoms

The Brazilian supermodel, Gisele Bundchen seems to be quite annoyed with the Roman Catholic Church. Bundchen who is proving to be a great hit at the Rio Fashion Week, has criticized the church’s opposition to condom use and abortion.

Flaunting the Colcci Label, Bundchen told the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper that the church’s stand on contraception is hopelessly outdated because it was taken when the “women were virgin and the guys were virgins.”

An angry 26 year old Bundchen said that “Today no one is a virgin when they get married.”

Gisele’s comments have come in less than a month after Pope Benedict XVI criticized the government-sanctioned abortion laws and birth control during a five day visit to Brazil, the world’s most populous Roman Catholic Nation.

In Brazil, abortions are mainly banned and the government provides 300 million free condoms every year to prevent AIDS and unwanted pregnancies.

The world’s most highly paid Brazilian supermodel said to the newspaper that “To prohibit condoms is ridiculous, just think of all the diseases transmitted without them.'' She added: ''How is it possible to not want people to use condoms and also not have abortions? It's impossible, I'm sorry.''

Bundchen isn't the first Brazilian celebrity to speak against the Roman Catholic Church’s take on contraception. The famous singer Daniela Mercury was pulled from a 2005 Vatican Christmas concert over her participation in an anti-AIDS campaign promoting condom use.

She says, "If she thinks she doesn't have the money or the emotional condition to raise a child, why should she give birth? It's ridiculous to ban contraceptives - you only have to think of the diseases that are transmitted without them. I think it should be compulsory to use a contraceptive. How is it possible to not want people to use condoms and also not have abortions? It's impossible, I'm sorry."

Well said and good thoughts Gisele. Though everyone knows that there are rare people who are virgins before marriage yet, it is hard to admit the reality on the face of it. Truth is always bitter.

She is now negotiating with a lingerie line with the retailer H&M. but the deal is taking time because of the legal issues involved.
